Echinacea purpurea Native Coneflower
- Use:
- Echinacea is loved for its large purple flowers from early summer right into fall. This award-winning native perennial adds fantastic color to mixed containers. As with all Echinacea’s, they attract birds that love to eat their seed-filled cones in autumn and winter months. An important native perennial for pollinators and makes an excellent cut flower.
- The flowers of Echinacea species are used to make an extremely popular herbal tea, purported to help strengthen the immune system; an extract is also available in tablet or liquid form in pharmacies and health food stores.
- Exposure/Soil:
- Full sun and average garden soil. Highly adaptable; tolerates poor soil, heat, humidity, and even drought, once established.
