Use: A versatile dwarf ornamental grass for sunny areas. When it comes to ornamental grasses, Blue Fescue has long been a popular choice due to its diminutive size and interesting texture. Compared to the classic variety ‘Elijah Blue’, ‘Blue Whiskers’ is a taller, more vigorous variety, with longer leaves and a brighter blue foliage color. The finely textured, bright silvery blue leaves form a fully rounded, robust clump with consistent flower coverage across the habit. Yellow-green flowers appear above the clump on 18-22” scapes in early summer and age to tan as the season progresses.
The soft blades add a nice contrasting texture in flowerbeds with thin, ice blue leaves that form dense tufts. Excellent as a potted plant, too with its foliage that looks good year-round. Border flower beds or use them in mixed pots for a fabulous splash of color. As with other ornamental grasses, deer don’t like them.
Prefers well-drained soil in sun . Tough, hardy and easy to grow.
