Strawberry Begonia (Saxifraga)
- Use:
- One of our favorites! A wonderful perennial ground cover for shady spots. Not a strawberry or begonia but the fleshy succulent leaves resemble a begonia leaf and the mother plant develops babies like a strawberry plant. Foliage and flowers add texture to the shade garden. A beautiful filler to cover bare ground in shade. Wispy white flowers on 1-2 ft stems appear in spring. Deer-resistant.
- Exposure/Soil:
- Shade & well-drained soil. Very hardy and easy to grow.
- Zones:
- 6-9
- Growth:
- Flat ground cover, spreads 18-24" inches. Evergreen.
